Washington, Battle Ground moving

About Battle Ground - Battle Ground is a city located in Clark County, Washington. The city is ironically named for the absence of a battle: in 1855, when a group of Native Americans detained at Fort Vancouver escaped, a group of volunteers caught up with them at the location of the present city, where they were convinced to return to the fort; the volunteers were later chided for not waging a battle against the escapees. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,296.
