Oklahoma, Edmond moving

About Edmond - Edmond is a rapidly growing suburban city located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma in the central part of the state. It is one of the fastest growing cities within the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area, and is home to the University of Central Oklahoma, which is the oldest institution of higher learning in Oklahoma dating back to December 24, 1890. As of July 1, 2003, the city had 71,643 residents.

Edmond was also the site of the post office massacre on August 20, 1986, in which fourteen people were killed and six wounded by Patrick Sherrill, who then committed suicide. This event is said to have been the source of the terms for &going postal" and "disgruntled employee".

The city's original name was Highpoint. This was given due to the fact it was a water and sanding point for the railroad and was the highest point in Central Oklahoma.
