in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2000 census,
the city had a total population of 8,860. The
City of Port Jervis is located where New York, New Jersey,
and Pennsylvania meet. Port Jervis was a port on the
Delaware and Hudson Canal and is also known as the "River
City." The communities of Germantown (which is
now actually Port Jervis' West End) and Cuddebackville
are adjacent to Port Jervis, and Montague, New Jersey
and Matamoras, Pennsylvania face it across the respective
state borders. The Orange County Town of Deerpark is
to the north.
