About Port Jervis - Port Jervis is a city located in Orange County in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 8,860. The City of Port Jervis is located where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet. Port Jervis was a port on the Delaware and Hudson Canal and is also known as the "River City." The communities of Germantown (which is now actually Port Jervis' West End) and Cuddebackville are adjacent to Port Jervis, and Montague, New Jersey and Matamoras, Pennsylvania face it across the respective state borders. The Orange County Town of Deerpark is to the north.

The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the city the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
