Old Bethpage is a hamlet contained within the Town of Oyster Bay. The Plainview-Old Bethpage school district is formed from it and the neighboring hamlet of Plainview.

There are 1,834 households out of which 38.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.6% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.1% are non-families. 13.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.88 and the average family size is 3.16.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
