There are 2,369 households out of which 33.2% have
children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4%
are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female
householder with no husband present, and 32.7% are non-families.
27.0% of all households are made up of individuals and
7.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age
or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the
average family size is 2.96.
In the village the population is spread out with 25.2%
under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from
25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who are 65
years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For
every 100 females there are 92.4 males. For every 100
females age 18 and over, there are 91.1 males.

The Village of Fairport owns and operates a municipal
power corporation called Fairport Electric. Incorporated
in 1901, Fairport Electric provides electric power to
its customers at rates about one-third of those charged
by neighboring utilities. Fairport Electric has purchased
power from the Power Authority of the State of New York
since 1961.
Fairport is also the home of Constellation Brands,
the largest wine company in the world.
