About Post Falls - Post Falls is a city located in Kootenai County, Idaho. It is a town near the Idaho state line between Spokane, Washington, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 17,247.

Post Falls is named for Frederick Post, who located there in 1871 to construct a sawmill along the Spokane River.

The racial makeup of the city was 96.13% White, 0.18% African American, 0.87% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. 2.55% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 6,369 households out of which 40.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.7% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.7% were non-families. 20.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.13.
