About Groton - Groton is a town located on the Thames River in New London County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 39,907. Groton is the home of the Electric Boat Corporation, the major contractor for submarine work for the US Navy, and the Navy's SUBASE New London. The Pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. is also a major employer.

The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the town the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.5 males.
