| About Mountain View -
Mountain View is the county seat and largest city in Stone County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,876. Mountain View most likely derives its name from its location at the foot of a series of small mountains that lie south of town. Prior to the founding of Mountain View, the town of Riggsville existed immediately to the east. The citizens of Riggsville effectively moved their town west and reorganized it as Mountain View in the late 1800s.
